Men Universe Model is a male model pageant considered the 4th leading grandslam pageant in the world. This contest was founded in 2008 by Robert Flores, a designer. It was held since its inception in the Dominican Republic. This contest is different from Mr. Universe which is a bodybuilding contest. Nor is it in anyway affiliated with the Miss Universe Organization.
There are several Special Awards given in this contest namely, Mr. Photogenic, Mr. Elegance, Mr. Friendship, Best Body, Best National Costume, Mr. Internet, Most Popular, Best on Runway, Best Catwalk, Best Face, Best Original Costume, and Mr. Talent. We have not included the winners of these special awards here. We only considered the year, the winner, the country of origin, the continent the country belongs to, the place the contest was held, and the number of countries who participated that year.
It was held yearly with the exception of 2020 which was without a winner, due to the contest suspension relative to the Covid Pandemic. Between 2008 and 2020, the Men Universe Title was awarded twelve times.
We begin with 2008, when Evan Cabrera Treego of Spain won the title. The contest was held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic and twenty one countries participated.
The next year 2009, Joshua Day of the United States emerged the winner. The contest was held in Punta Kana, Dominican Republic and twenty four countries joined.
The following year 2010, Tahrick Kaljanac of Bosnia and Herzegovina was named winner. The contest was held the second time in Punta Kana, Dominican Republic with 33 countries participating.
In 2011, Juan Pablo Gomez of Venezuela emerged victorious. The contest was held the third consecutive time in Punta Kana, Dominican Republic and 42 countries competed.
2012 was the year Erick Jimenez Sabather of the Dominican Republic won the title. The contest was held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic with twenty seven competing countries.
2013 was the year of Rafael Chavez of Riviera Maya. The contest took place in Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic with twenty nine countries competing.
In 2014, Bruno Mooneyhan of Brazil bagged the title. The contest was held in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic with twenty seven participating countries.
The next year 2015, Roger Warnawa of the Netherlands was declared winner. The contest again took place in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic this time with thirty five participants.
In 2016, the title was clinched by Marlon Steven Polo Anaya of Panama. Held in Punta Kana Dominican Republic, thirty countries competed.
The succeeding year 2017, Kevin Montes of Puerto Rico won. The contest was likewise held in Punta Kana Dominican Republic, and thirty nine countries joined that year.
In 2018, the winner was Anthony Clarinda of Curacao. Held in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, this batch consisted of thirty six countries.
Finally in 2019 Jefferson Velasco from Bolivia was adjudged the winner. It was held in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic, the second time, with twenty five official contestants.
We have crunched the numbers, now, let us take a look at what the data revealed. Twelve countries have been awarded the Men Universe Model title between 2008 and 2020. There were no repeat winners. So, no one country surpassed another in the number of titles won. As you can see, we have a flat bar chart suggesting a uniform one win for each country who made it to the Winners List.
We have
divided the countries into five continents namely Africa, Americas, Asia,
Europe and Oceania. Using the data set from 2008 to 2020, it appears that all
winners just came from two continents which are Americas and Europe. Of the
twelve winners, three are from Europe while the remaining nine winners are all
from the Americas. We have yet to see a winner coming from Africa, Asia and
Oceania. Let's watch this pageant and see if this trend changes in next year's
staging. See you by the end of 2021 when we make our next Winners List update.
