After not having placed in Mr. Real Universe
2015 in spite of being among the early favorites a month ago, Honduras’ Kilber Benjamin
Gutierrez Ponce is not dampened as he sets sights on Mister Globe 2016 coming
this November 14-22, 2015 in Paris, France. (Unlike many pageants, this one is an early bird. The winner of Mister Globe 2015 is Madagascar's Ismael Aiaz. See our March 26, 2015 post.) Nothing to be frowned upon, after
all Mr. Real Universe 2015, Cristobal Alvarez Leiva from Chile was also a crossover
candidate from Mister Global 2015. So who knows, things can turn up as brightly
for him this time around.
If you are a keen pageant observer, Kilber Gutierrez has been on a
merry-go-round of national and international pageants, having joined many,
placed in some, designated but failed to show up in a few. He has already
participated in competitions for Mister World, Men Universe Model, Mister
Tourism International, Mister
Mesoamérica and Mister Jade Universe, obtaining this last title for his
country Honduras in February last year.
So you see, even before we took notice
of him in Mister Real Universe 2015, where he was up against our own Philippines’
Mark Andrew Baron who made it to the top 13, he was already a regular in
international pageants. In fact, he was among the contestants in the company of
Francisco Escobar of Colombia, winner and Philippines’ Andrew Wolff, first
runner-up in Mister World 2012. Did anyone notice?
He was officially selected as
representative of Honduras to Mister International 2014 in Korea, where
Philippines’ Neil Perez was named winner, but for unknown reasons did not
participate. He was selected the year before to go to the same contest but
last-minute problems prevented him from traveling to Indonesia for Mister
International 2013 where Philippines’ Gil Wagas placed 3rd runner-up.
In this year, he was slated to compete
in the first edition of Mister United Continents in the Philippines, where our
own representative Reynaldo Ruiz Cataluna placed in the 12 finalists, but again
was not able to join. So there were quite close brushes with our own reps
before Mister Real Universe 2015 where he was among the favorites of many, us
included, did we take a hard look at this guy. Sadly, he didn't pass through the
finals. We hope he clinches Mister Globe 2016 or at least land a good
placement.
In a previous post “These guys are for
Real,” pertaining to candidates in the Mister Real Universe 2015, we headlined it
with this photo collage which we now caption with the results of the pageant.
Kilber Gutierrez is 24 years old, a
student of industrial engineering and a model based in San Pedro, Sula,
Honduras in Central America. He is proud to represent his country and people on
the international platform.
“I am a person with many aspirations
and above all with a quality to be unselfish. I want to win Mister Globe 2016 because my triumph and dream that I reach today would be an example of struggle
and effort that will inspire others to also achieve their dreams. To win Mister
Globe 2016 will be a high distinction but also a serious responsibility that
will bear the name of my country Honduras internationally.”
“I am preparing hard to achieve this
title as it would open doors for me to achieve my dream project to build a
foundation to help children abandoned by their parents for having HIV/AIDS. I
am preparing hard physically and mentally for the competition in Paris, France.”
At present, Kilber is involved with Club de Leones, providing school supplies
and shoes to needy children in marginalized areas in his country.
Seeing his determined aspiration for a
world pageant title, we just can’t shun this fellow but cheer him on. His ardent
dream and his constant drive are already plus factors in his favor. Our mantra
for Kilber is – dream on, drive on, success may just be round the corner, and
while at it, relish the moment. Take heart, be inspired. Paris, the City of
Dreams beckons.
At one end of the Champs-Élysées
in Paris, France is the Arc de Triomphe (Arch of Triumph). This monument was
built to honor the victories of French conqueror and later emperor Napoleon
Bonaparte. Our wish is for it to also stand as a personal reminder to Kilber
of his own victory - the day he conquered France and Mister Globe 2016.
