Ready, Aim, Win for Nguyen Van Son

Nguyen Van Son just by the look of it is not your average Joe.  For one thing, he is 6’4” tall not the typical height for most men nor particularly for most Vietnamese men. For another, he is a professional Taekwondo athlete with over 15 national and international medals under his belt. Next to that, he is also a professional model in Vietnam. And here comes the whopping topper - at age 21 he was just declared winner of Mister Global 2015.

While it’s true he is blessed with exceptional physical attributes, how he built on these with self discipline, determination and dedication to achieve all that he had, is all the more admirable. Nguyen comes from Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam. His involvement in sports at a young age undeniably formed his character in positive ways. He set goals, aimed for them, worked hard and became a winner.

With his new title, a bigger door of opportunity opens up before this accomplished young man. It’s time for him to show what relevance is there in a male pageant such as this. He could very well start where he is most at home which is sports. Surely he could encourage many by sharing how sports could be a shaper of character, as it has been to him, to the idolizing young generation not just in his country but wherever his new position takes him and whenever there is the chance to make a difference.
