This youthful looking bit of a guy next
door is Nicklas Pedersen from Denmark, he is a carpenter by profession and to borrow
the term of a known male pageant, “the most desirable man in the world.” It’s
not at all surprising, because to put it another way, Nicklas is simply Mister
World 2014.
Mister World uses the tagline “search
for the most desirable man in the world” but unlike most other male beauty
pageants it’s not just about looks or modeling skills. Candidates must have an
athletic background if they were to survive five rigorous challenge events in
the run-up to the pageant finals. These are Sports, Multimedia, Talent, Extreme
and Fashion & Style. It is no ordinary competition and requires a lot of
discipline, hard work and imagination.
The contestants are judged with their
performances over the challenges, their behavior during the competition and
their interviews with the judges. The winner is supposed to embody today’s man
and will travel the world supporting the organization’s philanthropy and
promoting goodwill and understanding.
So for Nicklas to beat 45 other hopefuls
from around the world in Torbay, England for this coveted title speaks a lot about
the man. Although he has always been active playing football, swimming and
going to the gym, he confessed to have worked extremely hard sticking to a
strict diet and body conditioning to be in top shape for the competition. He
emerged the Sport Challenge Winner, Top 10 Extreme Sport Challenge and Top 3
Multimedia Challenge. Even so, he was just hoping for a top 10 finish but
taking the top prize was overwhelming.
Nicklas is 25 as of this writing and is
from Brondby in Copenhagen. He travelled to Melbourne, Australia and stayed
there for over two years, living independently working as a carpenter and part time
model. He considers his mom as his biggest inspiration having taught him the
courage to chase after his dreams and to make every day count.
Nicklas is your typical guy next door –
sweet, charming and cute without pretensions. He exudes the James Dean aura,
sans the smug look that James Dean sported. Yes he looks best simply and casually
outfitted but still seems too nice to make the bad boy grade. As he proved it,
he is tough but not rough and unlike the James Dean characterization of rebel
without a cause, Nicklas is most definitely not running short of causes after
having earned the title Mister World.
“In
my eyes the most desirable man in the world has to be beautiful inside out. You
would have to be lovely to look at and even more lovely to talk to. You should
have an amazing personality along with good looks.” Nicklas Pedersen
